Welcome!
It's important to realize that we live in a computer age where instant online communication and access to information is more and more the norm.  Many people today, of all ages, are finding the web such a useful tool, that it is often their first choice when they need information and its the first place they look, when they need to know the who, what, where and how of something.  If somewhere, some proactive employee is trying to organize his fellow workers and looking for an existing union to help him, then the presence of a web site might just make the difference as to whether they become Teamsters, UFCW or local 300 members.

An on-line Library.
Have you ever wanted to know about some detail in the contract but you were at home and your contract book was at work?  So you sort of forgot about it, and you're still not sure if you got short changed on the overtime that you worked last Tuesday week.  Now your contract booklet need be no further away than the nearest online computer.  Within a short while we will hopefully have a copy of your contract on this site soon, and perhaps the constitution too.

Union Meetings.
I doubt if websites will ever replace union meeting, or even if that would be desirable, but we should be able to tell you, given sufficient notice, when and where the next one is happening and remind you to attend.  This website is also not password protected, so we will not be using it to report on the (often confidential) business conducted at meetings.  So that's another good reason to attend meetings in person.

The World of Labour.
You may have noticed that on the home page we have (courtesy of LabourStart) links to topical labour news stories from around the world.  We do not live in a bubble.  We live in a cruel global market and when struggling and emergent Unions are oppressed in the third world, driving their wages even lower, there is a direct effect on wages here.  Never before in human history has it been truer that "an injury to one is an injury to all".  You may be tempted to believe that a relatively small union like local 300 can't do much about that, but you would be wrong, try clicking on the "Act Now!" link or on the campaigns mentioned below it, and you will find that there is something that even the individual can do.  And believe me it can have results.
