Section 1
The Company will grant leave of absence to not more than one (1) employee who is appointed or elected to Union office for a period up to and including one (1) year. Further leave of absence may be granted by mutual consent. The employee who obtains this leave of absence shall return to his Company within thirty (30) calendar days after the completion of his term of employment with the Union.
The Company will grant leave of absence to not more than one (1) employee who is elected as representative to attend Union Meetings and Union Conventions in order that they may carry out their duties on behalf of the Union.
In order for the Employer to replace the employee with a competent substitute, it is agreed that before the employee receives this leave of absence, as set forth in Clauses (a) and (b) above, the Employer will be given due notice in writing; in the case of (a) - sixty (60) calendar days and in the case of (b) - fourteen (14) calendar days.
