6.01       The following shall be considered as Statutory Holidays on which employees shall not be required to work:
New Year's Day Empire Day Labour Day Christmas Day
Good Friday Dominion Day Thanksgiving Day Boxing Day
Easter Monday B.C. Day Remembrance Day
And any other Statutory Holidays proclaimed by the Federal or B.C. Governments.

6.02       Present employee's shall be paid for the above mentioned Statutory Holidays at the employee's current pay rate (rate on the date before the Statutory Holiday). If an employee is receiving short term disability benefits under Article 9, he shall be paid the difference between his current pay rate and the insured benefit he is receiving. Any employee who does not qualify for sick pay benefits under the Welfare Plan because of lack of service and is absent from work due to a sickness or accident covered by the Welfare Plan benefits, will receive his Statutory Holiday Pay.

6.03       All new employee's hired subsequent to January 1, 1975 and who have not become eligible for Benefit Plan coverage, shall be paid for the above mentioned Statutory Holiday's at their current pay rates, provided the employee has worked at least five [5] days during the twenty [20] working days immediately preceding the day on which the said holiday is observed, and the employee has not been absent without permission on the last work day scheduled for him immediately prior to the day on which the said holiday is observed and the first work day scheduled for him immediately after the day on which the said holiday is observed.

6.04       In addition to the Statutory Holiday pay, for all work performed on any of the aforementioned Statutory Holiday's, employees shall be paid at the rate of double time.

6.05       Where a Statutory Holiday falls on a non-working day, for an eligible employee, and where the employer requires the employee to work a normal work week (excluding the actual Statutory Holiday), the employee will be given an alternative day off with pay. This day shall be scheduled, taken and paid at the rate at which it was earned by March 31st of the year following the year in which it was earned, subject to seniority preference and operational feasibility. Every reasonable effort will be made to schedule the alternative day off concurrent with the employee's regular days off. The alternative day off must be taken as time off, there shall be no payout option.

Employees required to work as a result of the aforementioned, will be assigned on the basis of volunteers. This language will only apply where a Statutory Holiday falls on a Monday or Friday (or where the Statutory Holiday is observed on a Monday or Friday, per Article 6.06).

The parties agree to meet in December of each year to review and adjust with regard to operational feasibility.

6.06       When any of the above holidays fall on a Saturday or a Sunday, the dates on which such holidays are observed shall be established by mutual agreement of the parties so as to best meet the Company's operational and business requirements. The parties shall meet as early as possible in each year, but in no event less than thirty [30] days prior to each Statutory Holiday to establish the dates the holiday shall be observed.

In the event an agreement cannot be reached, then the holiday shall be observed on the day proclaimed. Holidays which fall on Saturdays, will be observed on the preceding Friday and holidays which fall on Sunday, shall be observed on Monday.
