GWP / Schedule "G"
-
Employees who are unable to work because of sickness and who wish to claim sick leave must notify the Company as soon as possible prior to their scheduled starting time so that arrangements may be made for replacement if necessary.
-
Employees who have routine medical or dental appointments are requested to make every effort to schedule them before or after working hours or on their own time.
-
If medical or dental appointments cannot be arranged other than during working hours, they should be scheduled near the beginning or end of the employee's shift and the Company should be notified at the time the appointment is made. In such cases, only the time actually spent away from work will be deducted from sick leave credits.
-
Where abuse of sick leave is a problem, the Company may advise that a doctor's certificate is required in all cases of suspected abuse.
-
If the Company does require a doctor's certificate proving disability to the satisfaction of the Company, a proper certificate must be provided. Notes merely stating that the employee consulted a doctor will not be accepted; the note must confirm that the employee was unable to work.
